Dear Players and Parents,

Welcome to the 2025/2026 hockey season! My name is Karl Herbison and I am thrilled to be the Coach of the U16 Upper Canada Cyclones team this season. With over two decades of coaching experience in competitive hockey and the past nine with the Upper Canada Cyclones, I am passionate about the game and dedicated to fostering a positive and challenging environment for our team.

My journey in hockey began at a very young age where I quickly found my passion for the sport. Over the years, I have gained invaluable experience both on and off the ice, having worked with players of all ages and skill levels. My time with the Upper Canada Cyclones has been incredibly rewarding, as I have had the privilege of mentoring young athletes and watching them grow, not just as players, but individuals.

I am also excited to introduce our Assistant Coach, Darryl Kingston. Darryl brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program and his expertise will be invaluable to the defensive group as we move throughout the season. Together we are committed to ensuring that every player receives the guidance and support they need to reach their potential.

Our primary focus will be on skill development, team work, and building a strong sense of sportsmanship. We believe that every player, regardless of their starting point has the potential to improve and contribute to our team’s success. Our coaching philosophy is encouraging players to push their boundaries while fostering a genuine love for the game. Throughout the season, we will emphasize the fundamentals of hockey, including teamwork, communication and resilience both on and off the ice. We are committed to creating a supportive atmosphere where players will learn and feel empowered to contribute their thoughts and ideas to learn and thrive.
